It also has a unique double bayonet lug, one for the spanish bayonet 1.941 model and removing this one, another one for the 1.893 model. The M43 has a similar configuration to the Mauser chilean model of 1.935, the caliber is 8x57JS, it has a walnut stock and a polished bolt. They were later replaced by other sniper rifles like de Santa Barbara C-75, the Mauser SP-66, and more recently the Accuracy International, Barrett M95, and others. The M43 sniper versions were used longer, well into the 80s in some units. The M43 was the standard infantry rifle of the soldiers in spanish Sahara and saw action in the Ifni war in 1.957-58. It´s the sniper version of the “Coruña Modelo 1943” Spanish Mauser used from 1.943 troughout the 50´s and from 1.958 progressively replaced by the CETME as the new standard army rifle. Wanted to share some pics and info of this Mauser sniper rifle.
